After a long illness, Miss Kitty (a.k.a. "Sandy") departed this world. Dom had to take her in to the vet to be put down early this morning. Miss Kitty came in to this life with a house that Dom rented in Point Loma about a decade ago; the previous tenants, who had already named her "Sandy," could not take her with them to their new apartment, so they left her for Dom. It was never an easy relationship: an indoor-outdoor party cat with a light-sleeping owner often resulted in great crabbiness and associated language. Oh, to have an opposable thumb so as to open the front door!
In her later years at the new house, she loved to sit in a front-bedroom window: a grey cat in a grey house with two grey cars parked out front. How monochromatic. She also enjoyed exploring the canyon next door and would usually come in when called, trotting along the wood fence to the house. In her spare time, she followed Dom everywhere and would wait patiently outside the door to his studio while he practiced.
Adieu, Miss Kitty. We will miss your chatty demeanor, your obnoxious tendencies, and your pretty face. See you in the next life (#10).
