Xmas toy

Well, the season has come and gone, but I'm still having fun with one of my toys. It is my Xootr, a manual scooter that folds up so I can take it just about anywhere.
Riding this is like flying down a sidewalk! Of course, a helmet is imperative, considering how bad the sidewalks are around here-- some have 3" offsets from each other, in addition to cracks, debris, and lack of curb cuts for 10" curbs. Yeah, nothing like falling off a scooter into traffic! 
I was looking at these online months ago, as an alternative to driving three miles to work. I had tried the bus, but it was too crowded and not worth the extra $60 per month. And biking is really dangerous on the surface streets here. So that left walking, which takes over an hour each way. Roller skates were not an option! I was happy to see such a device as the Xootr, which is made specifically for adults and is much bigger than a Razor, let's say. It also has incredible gliding capabilities once you get it rollling. Very cool!! I've ridden it at least 5 miles at a stretch, and I can tell you it's a great glute workout! The scooter is also small enough to fit into the locker at the gym, so no more excuses for not going there. I do get some funny looks though. Must be the bike helmet.
